Which Arria solution is best for your Excel use case?
Arria offers several solutions for bringing NLG into your reporting workflow. Which solution is best for your Excel use case depends on factors such as the size of your dataset and whether you present your reports in Excel workbooks or in other applications like email or PowerPoint.
This topic describes typical reporting scenarios and identifies which Arria solution is best suited to each.
Scenario 1
You may use Excel to present your reports, alongside visuals, charts, and data, or you may copy them to other applications such as email or Word. Your datasets are generally small in size, comprising hundreds of rows, and several columns. A quick turnaround is required for report creation.
Arria for Excel is ideal for adding natural-language reporting right inside your worksheets.
Scenario 2
You may use Excel to present your reports, alongside visuals, charts, and data, or you may copy them to other applications such as email or Word. Your datasets are generally large in size, comprising tens of thousands of rows, and dozens of columns.
Arria for Excel is ideal for adding natural-language reporting right inside your worksheets. If your datasets are very large, we recommend reducing the size of your selected data range to only what is necessary for generating your narrative—to keep narrative generation times to a minimum.
Scenario 3
You may use your Excel file as the input for your report generation process only and present your reports in other applications such as email or PowerPoint.
Your datasets may be very large in size, with hundreds of thousands of rows.
You may use external programs, such as Python scripts, to process your Excel file.

Studio Runner enables you to submit data to an Arria NLG Studio project’s API endpoint via our Studio Runner web page. The generated narrative can then be presented using your preferred application.
Studio Runner can accept datasets of up to 6MB (or 2MB in customer hosted environments running NLG Studio 3.0.4 or earlier version).

Arria Connect is a software development kit that allows developers to integrate with Arria's NLG platform. The Arria Connect headless API can be used in combination with a JavaScript, TypeScript or Node.js program to generate a narrative. This is the best solution if you wish to integrate narratives into applications that are also built on these technologies.
