Deployment options and API settings

This topic describes the three deployment options for the Arria for Power BI custom visual and the default services called by each. It also describes how to configure the custom visual to call services from your own choice of environment using the API Settings section.

Deployment options

We offer three deployment options for our technology suite: Public Cloud, Private Cloud (Dedicated SaaS), and Customer-Hosted (On-Premises).

Arria-Hosted Public Cloud

A.k.a. public SaaS, multi-tenant SaaS.

Deployed and maintained by Arria, our public cloud environment offers the fastest adoption and setup, as well as the lowest price.

Available to download from the Microsoft AppSource and the Arria website, this instance of the custom visual is pre-configured to call the Arria for Power BI public cloud services.

No configuration of the API settings is necessary.

Arria-Hosted Private Cloud

A.k.a. dedicated cloud, dedicated instance, dedicated SaaS, single-tenant SaaS.

Deployed and maintained by Arria, our private cloud option offers a dedicated, single-customer environment, and optional integration with your own authentication.

Downloaded from your own, private cloud environment, this instance of the custom visual is pre-configured to call your exclusive Arria for Power BI services.

To call Arria for Power BI services from a different environment, such as a development environment, you must configure the API settings.

Customer-Hosted

A.k.a. on-premises, on-prem, 'behind the customer firewall'.

Deployed and maintained by your company, the customer-hosted option offers maximum data security. The entire system, including all extensions, is hosted behind the your own firewall, and no calls to external servers are made.

Downloaded from your own, customer-hosted environment, this instance of the custom visual is pre-configured to call your exclusive Arria for Power BI services.

To call Arria for Power BI services from a different environment, such as a development environment, you must configure the API settings.
