Upgrade from version 2.x to version 3.x
This topic describes how to upgrade narratives created using version 2.x of the Arria for MicroStrategy visualization to version 3.x of the visualization.
Note
The following procedures assume you have installed Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x and have an Arria account with a BI license.
Upgrade out-of-the-box narratives to version 3.x
Out-of-the-box narratives created using the Configure Narrative feature of Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x must be recreated using the NLG Apps feature in Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x.

Upgrade custom narratives to version 3.x - Arria-Hosted Public Cloud deployment
Follow this procedure to upgrade custom narratives generated using the Public Cloud deployment of the visualization.
Custom narratives created using the Create Custom Narrative feature of Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x must be recreated using the Custom Narratives feature in Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x.
Open your MicroStrategy dossier and to go the page containing your Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x custom narrative.
In the top toolbar, click Insert Visualization.
Select the Custom > ArriaForMicroStrategy 3.x visualization (not the original ArriaNLG visualization).
The Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x custom visualization is added to the dossier.
You may wish to place the Arria visualizations side-by-side and resize them so you can easily copy and paste the configuration details from one to the other in the following steps.
Note
Before you can log in to Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x using your Arria account, you must add at least one dimension and one measure to the .
Add the same attributes and metrics to the 3.x visualization as you did for the 2.x visualization.
When at least one attribute and one metric have been added, the visualization displays the Welcome screen.
Continue adding your attributes and metrics to Arria's custom visualization.
In 3.x, enter your Arria account details and click Log in to my Arria account.
You see the Get started with... page.
Click Custom Narratives.
In Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x , click the cog icon at the top right of the narrative to go to the Create Custom Narrative page.
Copy the configuration details from the Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x Create Custom Narrative wizard to the Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x Custom Narratives wizard (e.g. Studio project URL, Studio project API Key, and Mapping Script).
Tip
The Simple/Advanced setting is not required in Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x.
Note
In the 3.x visualization, select a value in the Studio Project Type field to reveal additional sections, including the Mapping Script section.
Rename the 3.x visualization.
Generate the narrative in both versions of the visualization (click Generate Text/Generate). Check that the generated narratives are the same.
Remove the Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x visualization from the page and reposition the 3.x visualization and charts as required.
Upgrade custom narratives to version 3.x - Arria-Hosted Private Cloud and Customer-Hosted deployments
Follow this procedure to upgrade custom narratives generated using the Arria-Hosted Private Cloud and Customer-Hosted deployments of the visualization.
Custom narratives created using the Create Custom Narrative feature of Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x must be recreated using the Custom Narratives feature in Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x.
Open your MicroStrategy dossier and to go the page containing your Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x custom narrative.

Copy the configuration details from the Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x Create Custom Narrative wizard to the Arria for MicroStrategy 3.x Custom Narratives wizard (e.g. Studio project URL, Studio project API Key, and Mapping Script).
Important
The fields highlighted in orange in the Arria for MicroStrategy 2.x visualization are not required in the 3.x visualization.
Users of the Arria-Hosted Private Cloud (a.k.a. Dedicated Cloud) and Customer-Hosted (a.k.a. On-Premises) deployment options can no longer use the publicly available Arria for MicroStrategy visualization.
Instead, a unique instance of the add-in configured to call your exclusive Arria for MicroStrategy services, must be installed.
Contact Arria or your systems administrator for details.
